Our new headquarters will provide the stable infrastructure and state-of-the-art equipment KZYX needs to continue to:

Serve the community as a trusted source of local, national, and international news,
Provide urgent information during emergencies,
Connect far-flung regions across our large county, and
Support community organizations through on-air promotions, editorial coverage, and the community calendar.

KZYX Plays a Vital Role in Community Safety

In a world that is increasingly digital, vast swaths of Mendocino County still rely on the radio for local news, particularly reporting during natural disasters and emergencies.
According to the Community Foundation of Mendocino County, approximately 40% of households and businesses in Mendocino County lack access to reliable, high-speed broadband internet.
In 2025, the Mendocino Broadband Alliance found that only 56% of the county's population has access to both a computing device and high-speed internet, which is significantly lower than the California statewide average of 75%.
25% of KZYX’s budget was slashed in 2025 when the Corporation for Public Broadcasting was dissolved by Congress, threatening our ability to stay on the air, especially in moments of crisis.
To ensure that the station is able to continue its mission of delivering news and community programming, it is absolutely necessary that KZYX move to a more centrally located and technically up-to-date site in Ukiah.
