Walkways added

October, 2026

Walkways have been added around the buildings of KZYX’s future home in Ukiah. The parking lot and sidewalks, and landscaping are next up. The big push is to meet all the occupancy requirements so the staff has a place to come together as soon as possible.

We Have a Radio Tower

July 28, 2026

KZYX has a new radio tower in Ukiah! The tower was erected in early July, meaning one of the most important project milestones is now complete. The tower is not yet ready to transmit the station's signal, but we are one step closer to making the move to Ukiah a reality.

Fundraiser for Backup Generator

June 30, 2026

In late June a festive gathering to benefit the new KZYX Ukiah headquarters was held at Paul Yarbrough and his wife, Pien's Redwood Valley performance barn. The goal was to raise $50,000 to purchase a new generator for the Ukiah location.

Radio Tower Components Delivered

May 25, 2026

In mid-May components of our new 90-foot radio tower were delivered!

We Have Trenches

April 22, 2026

Work on digging and prepping trenches for electrical conduits for Building 2 and the back-up generator was completed in early May.

Studio Furniture Installed

February 20, 2026

We now have furniture in the studios! It might seem like a simple improvement but it is quite complicated to get the right furniture that can bear the load of equipment, not heat up and allow for a good work flow.

Interior Spaces Coming Together

January 15, 2026

The interior walls have fresh paint, there are new countertops and cabinetry (in the studio's employee kitchenette), the ADA restroom facilities are in the process of being completed, and interior strapping for the electrical grounding of the facility (in case of a tower lightning strike) is in place.

Cables, Cables, Cables!

As you might imagine, there is a lot of wiring that goes into putting together a radio station and an uncountable number of feet of cables and whatnot have now been threaded through our buildings on Clay Street, with more cables coming into the building via trenches.

It's Nice to Have Friends

Fifty friends of KZYX hold an event to support the Building Project for the new KZYX Ukiah headquarters. The group joins forces to contribute an incredible $75,000 in donations to fund the station's three new state-of-the-art studios.

The National Endowment for the Humanities releases its $148,000 grant to KZYX for the new Ukiah studio.

The Fall Building Fund Drive raises a total of $125,790. The generous challenge gift from the Dean Witter Family adds $100,000 to that for a grand total of $225,790.

Building Fund Drive Begins
