In 2025, KZYX grappled with extreme cuts to funding as a public media organization, which caused an immediate and urgent need to reevaluate our annual fundraising projections, strategies, and growth opportunities.

As we adapt to this new funding environment, we recognize the need to complete this capital project and to move into the new studio with its significant technological upgrades and central location in Ukiah. KZYX is presently positioned and supported by an enthusiastic board of directors, professional staff and well over 100 programmers and volunteers, who together with community allies, will successfully complete this capital project. 

Delaying action risks the future of public radio in Mendocino County. Acting now secures the promise that community-driven, local media will continue to thrive now and into the future.

The goal of the 2026-2027 Capital Campaign is to raise our last $500,000.

These funds will allow us to:

  • finalize construction

  • purchase the remaining equipment

  • meet all City of Ukiah occupancy requirements in our new state-of-the-art broadcast facility

Monthly donations can be cancelled at any time. KZYX will end monthly building fund donations when the $500,000 goal is reached.

  • Erecting the tower

  • Trenching for gas pipe replacement by PG&E to widen site gas line to meet generator specifications

  • Pouring concrete pad for the generator

  • Trenching for power cables to the generator, parking lot lights, and Building Two

  • Purchasing and installing antennas and coax cables

  • Building ADA parking space and sidewalks

  • Installing low voltage and ethernet cabling 

  • Painting the exterior

  • Landscaping per city and permit specifications
